A French financial Agency, Francaise de Development (AFD) in a massive boost to Kochi Metro project, agreed to ensure funds on time for the Rs. 5182 crore Kochi Metro Rail project. This not only removed the biggest hurdle in reformation of Kochi tourism, but also set a French connection to the metro and tourism.

Where it will Run
The mass rapid transport system will integrate with waterway transport at Vyttila and Edappally. The two locations which attract major portion of tourists for having a number of places worth visiting in the GOD’S OWN COUNTRY.

The AFD team also visited the sites for metro stations proposed at Aluva, Edappally, Kaloor International stadium, South railway station and Pettah. The KOCHI METRO RAIL LIMITED (KMRL) might obtain a loan from HUDCO if there is delay in the State government pooling in with its share of the project cost will be used mainly for land acquisition.
E. Sreedharan, principal Advisor of DMRC, restated that the four-laning of North Bridge is expected to be over by the year-end, while Salim Rajan bridge will be ready by mid-April.

For easy approach of commuters and tourists metro’s alignment at Vyttila was changed to ensure that is was located at the multi-modal hub, instead of at the junction.

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) will not only make the travel easy but also will make the city greener and pollution- free. As per statistics Present Population of Kochi city is 624,859 and 2,277,620 people are living in Total Metropolitan Area of Kochi. Just think how many vehicles they have been using and it is increasing day by day. You can imagine how much pollution they are causing to the city. With the commissioned of the Metro rail, it can reduce approximately 80% of the pollution caused by vehicle. This can only be possible if more people will prefer and use public transport system and our Government is aiming at the same thing.
