This amazing great museum was built by the R Madhavan Nayar, this genius was behind the foundation of Kerala History museum. He is the late managing trustee of the Madhavan Nayar Foundation.The reason which made this person to built such an extraordinary museum was that He was a great art appreciator and besides, He was a well known Industrialist, Philanthropist and a respectable emblem in sea food export Industry in India. The museum also include a distinct section for paintings and sculptures separately from the light and sound shows that also attracts and excites a large number of people towards the museum. This section of the museum portrays the Indian contemporary art, ranging over a period of the last 200 years.
There is a superb Dolls museum also which has its own impact and if you are visiting you must not leave it behind. This Dolls museum is completely different, infact one of its kind in South India, This museum has a collection of around 150 Dolls, each one has its own distinct features and all of them are handicrafted and hails from various regions and states of India and represents their culture through their attires, hairdos and jewelry. Right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari you can find dolls related to all those states.
The works of the Company School of Paintings, the ‘Matured’ Bengal School, the Progressive Artists Group, Indian Abstract Act, Narrative painters and the Symbolic-Mystical Style are also covered there.
